One of a series of prints based on the floats and buoys used by coastal fishermen in marking out the position of their lobster traps at sea. I decided to replicate the strong graphic forms, the fishermen's painted patterns and flat colour elements. These particular prints are inspired by the crab traps and lobster pots as seen on a coastal walks I've taken over the years. I was drawn to the floats/buoys shapes, the bands of colour that identify ownership of the lobster pots that would be hanging beneath the waves, the buoyancy nose cones and striped stick flag poles.
All my artwork is drawn directly into the computer (no scans or photographs) using vector curves. The finished artwork is printed out as a high quality limited edition Giclée print.
This is an original digital artwork. The above image is taken directly from the image file, rather than being photographed or reproduction of the final print.
Printed colours can vary slightly from those produced by a computer screen.
